CBA Commitment to Equity, Diversity & Inclusivity

Disability Law Section

The Section concentrates on the laws and procedures governing or related to disabilities. The committee makes recommendations to the Board of Governors concerning legislation or procedural improvements in the disability law field. The committee also publishes a semi-annual column in The Colorado Lawyer, sponsors a session on a current legal topic of interest at the annual convention, and co-sponsors occasional training events in the area of disability law.

Diversity on the Bench Coalition

The goal of the Diversity on the Bench Coalition is to have the Colorado court bench reflect the diversity of the population of the state.

Committees

Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity Committee 

The Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity Committee (JEDI) is dedicated to promoting full and equal participation in the Trust & Estate and Elder Law Sections of the CBA by all attorneys and law students, including those historically under-represented groups such as racial and ethnic minorities, persons with disabilities, members of the queer community, and women. The JEDI committee is focused on building strong connections within the legal community and promoting cultural competency in our practice through education regarding diverse backgrounds and populations.

Colorado Diverse Attorney Community Circle

The Colorado Diverse Attorney Community Circle (CODACC) Program seeks to build a community for diverse Colorado attorneys. CODACC invites diverse attorneys throughout the state to find their fit within the CBA and in the greater Colorado legal community, which includes exploring CBA programs and opportunities and making friends and business contacts who they would not have otherwise met. Through a mix of intimate and open-to-the-public retreats and other networking events, CODACC will train participants in core Racial Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity competencies that they can share with CBA members, colleagues, employers, family, friends, and the broader community Additionally, CODACC will promote mentoring opportunities for diverse attorneys and open doors for diverse attorneys to take more leadership positions at work and in their communities.

Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Colorado

APABA advocates for issues concerning the Asian American community and spearheads programs benefiting underserved communities, promoting civil justice, & fostering professional development, mentorship, and community.

Colorado Hispanic Bar Association

The CHBA is committed to the advancement of the Colorado Hispanic community by expanding the number of Latinos in the legal profession through professional development, education, and leadership opportunities. In line with this vision, the CHBA spearheads and is actively involved in a variety of civic and advocacy efforts serving the Hispanic community.

Colorado Indian Bar Association

The Colorado Indian Bar Association is a professional organization of American Indian lawyers, law students, and practitioners of Indian Law.

Colorado LGBTQ+ Bar Association

CLBA exists to provide a sense of community and belonging to LGBTQ+ individuals in the legal field in Colorado.

Colorado Women's Bar Association

The Colorado Women's Bar Association (CWBA) is the only bar association in Colorado dedicated solely to advancing women as leaders in the law.
