1L Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Scholars Program

Description
The 1L Scholars Program gives these law students the rare opportunity to work side-by-side with attorneys from LCLD Member organizations. It provides them with valuable professional experiences while introducing them to the value of relationships and building networks with LCLD Members.

Qualifications
1L LCLD Scholar candidates must be enrolled as first-year law students and in good standing at an ABA-approved law school.

  • Candidates must apply directly to their desired LCLD Member firms and corporations; each Member organization will independently identify, select, and hire its 1L LCLD Scholar(s).

ABA Business Law Section Fellows Program

Description
Through the Fellows Program, young lawyers, lawyers of color, lawyers with disabilities and LGBT lawyers are provided a springboard to substantive leadership roles within the Section through unique leadership roles, mentorships and subsidized attendance at Business Law Section Meetings.

Qualifications
All applicants must have demonstrated leadership involvement within a bar organization committed to one of the following areas:

  • Young lawyer (under 40 years of age or in practice for less than 10 years)
  • Lawyer of color
  • LGBT lawyer
  • Lawyer with a disability

BakerHostetler Diversity Fellowship Program

Description
Eight-week program. Receive up to a $25,000 award, as well as a position in the BakerHostetler summer associate program. The amount of $10,000 will be paid within the first 30 days of starting in a summer associate position with the firm and the remaining $15,000 is contingent upon receiving and accepting a full-time offer with the firm, to be paid within 30 days of joining the firm as a full-time associate.

2L student in good standing enrolled full-time in an ABA-accredited law school

Disability Rights Advocates Fellowship

Description
Participate in every aspect of litigation process; substantial training, mentoring and supervision.

Qualifications

  • 3L students, judicial law clerks, or recent law graduates
  • Passion for disability, civil rights, and public interest law
     

Fish & Richardson 1L Diversity Fellowship Program

Description
Each Fellow receives a $5,000 scholarship upon completion of the clerkship and an additional $5,000 to those who receive and accept an associate offer with the firm after competing their 2L summer clerkship; mentoring from members of the firm; a paid Summer Associate position in the office of the Fellow's choice; and participation in the 1L Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Scholars Program.

  • Record of academic and professional achievement
  • Contribute meaningfully to the diversity of the firm and legal community
  • Sincere interest in Fish & Richardson’s practice areas

Latham & Watkins 1L Fellowship Program

Description
10-week summer program for 1L student. Offers valuable professional experience, understanding of in-house legal department’s business operations, mentoring and training. $3,080 per week. Invitation to return for minimum of 8 weeks following summer with $10,000 scholarship through 2L Diversity Scholars Program.

Morrison & Foerster’s Keith Wetmore 1L Fellowship for Excellence, Diversity, and Inclusion

Description
Paid summer associate position. Upon successful completion of the fellowship, fellows have the option to return as second-year summer associates. Fellows receive a payment of $25,000 (in addition to summer associate pay), which is typically paid in two equal amounts. Installments are awarded at the time that the candidate accepts his or her offer to return as a second-year summer associate, and when the candidate accepts an offer of full-time employment as an associate.

  • Demonstrated leadership qualifies and community involvement

 

McAndrews Diversity in Patent Law Fellowship Program

Description
10-12-week paid summer associate position and $5,000 fellowship at completion of clerkship. Eligible to return for following summer. Gain experience in a wide range of intellectual property law and be mentored by Diversity Committee.

  • 1L student in good standing at ABA-accredited law school
  • Commitment to meaningfully contribute to diversity and inclusion in field of intellectual property law
  • Science or engineering degree
  • Intent to practice patent law in Chicago

PepsiCo Larry D. Thompson Legacy of Leadership Fellowship Program

Description

Four fellowships. 10-week summer program with PepsiCo in Westchester County, New York or Plano, Texas. $2000 weekly stipend. Each fellow assigned an attorney mentor.

Description
$7,500 academic scholarship and paid summer associate position available in the Chicago, Madison, Phoenix, Portland, San Francisco, and DC offices.

  • 1L student in good standing at ABA-accredited law schools
  • Academic record, interest, and capacity that demonstrate great promise for a successful career
  • Contribute meaningfully to diversity of law school student body and, upon entering legal profession, legal community
