Champions for Disability Inclusion in the Legal Profession Award

Who are the Champions for Disability Inclusion in the Legal Profession?  Champions facilitate diversity and inclusion in their recruitment, hiring, retention, and promotion of attorneys with disabilities.  Champions serve as role models, both influencing and inspiring others in the legal profession to take action.  Champions reach out to lawyers with disabilities to understand their challenges and barriers.  Champions forge relationships with state bars, law schools, and colleges to welcome persons with disabilities into the profession.  Finally, Champions hold themselves and others accountable for disability diversity and inclusion.

The American Bar Association (ABA), through its Commission on Disability Rights (CDR), recognizes a law firm or corporation that have made measurable progress in the recruitment, hiring, retention, and advancement to leadership positions of lawyers with disabilities.

For the 2018 Award, the American Bar Association honored Accenture, a leading global professional services company, which provide services that span strategy, consulting, digital, technology and operations services. The ABA Commission on Disability Rights selected Accenture for its commitment to and leadership in creating and sustaining an inclusive, barrier-free work environment where persons with disabilities across the globe experience a real sense of belonging, can be who they are, and perform at their full potential.

The 2019 Award will be given out at the Commission's Reception for Lawyers with Disabilities on Monday, August 12, 2019 in San Francisco, California, during the ABA 2019 Annual Meeting.
