Lana Hawkins is the founder of The Hawkins Law Firm, with offices in Huntsville, Alabama, Guntersville, Alabama and Arab, Alabama. Ms. Hawkins is a trial and appellate attorney, focusing primarily in the areas of family law, incapacity planning and probate and fiduciary controversies. She is a member of the Family Law Section of the Alabama State Bar, and the Family Law Section, Litigation and Trust and Estate Sections of the American Bar Association. Ms. Hawkins was past vice-chair and chair of the Child Support Committee, Family Law Section of the ABA. She currently serves as Chair of the Family Law Section Committee on Vulnerable Adults, and as the Family Law Section Liaison for the ABA Commission on Disability Rights.
Prior to relocating to her native state of Alabama in 2004, Ms. Hawkins practiced with the law firms of Cooley Godward in Palto Alto, California and with Shaw, Pittman in Washington, D.C. She was previously a partner with the law firm of Balch & Bingham in Birmingham, Alabama. While practicing in Birmingham, Ms. Hawkins was a founding member of the Alabama Information Technology Association Board, a member of Board of Directors for the Birmingham Venture Club and associate editor for Alabama Technology Today. Ms. Hawkins previously served on the Advisory Board for Snead State Community College in Boaz, Alabama. She was Vice-Chair and Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama from 2012-2018.
Ms. Hawkins received her J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C., and her B.A. from the University of Central Florida, summa cum laude. She is a member of the Alabama State Bar and an inactive member of the Washington, D.C. Bar. Her professional memberships also include the U.S. District Court of Alabama, Northern Division, the American Bar Association, and the Madison County and Marshall County Bar Associations.
