Charles Brown currently administers the Help America Vote Act Program for the National Federation of the Blind. He also practices in the area of disability rights law. He took on these tasks after completing a 36-year legal career with the United States government. During his federal service, Mr. Brown was the Ethics Official for the National Science Foundation and played a major role in assuring the integrity of the NSF's merit review process. He previously worked for the Solicitor's Office at the US Department of Labor, in its Legislation and Legal Counsel Division, where he was the Department's Special Projects Counsel. While serving the federal government, Mr. Brown received numerous awards, including the National Science Foundation's Gold Medal for exemplary service and the Labor Department's Distinguished Career Service Award. Mr. Brown is the Special Advisor to the ABA's Standing Committee on Election Law, and he serves on the Council of the ABA's Senior Lawyers Division
