Description

Dr. Portes will give an overview of Hispanic immigration to the U.S. and the various ways that Hispanic immigrants have become part of an ethnic group in American society. Dr. Portes and Dean Abril will also discuss how the immigrant experience intersects with education, employment, civic engagement, and other areas of the American life. This program is one of several regional events discussing the ABA Hispanic Commission’s recent report entitled, “Latinos in the United States: Overcoming Legal Obstacles, Engaging in Civic Life.” Reception to follow.
