Learn More - About the CenterThe Black Lawyers in America Toolkit was created as a follow up to the original Black Lawyers in America Webinar Series, co-sponsored by the ABA and hosted by Duane Morris. The toolkit includes discussion questions and videos to support organizations in uplifting Black lawyers' experiences in the workplace and ending practices of implicit bias and anti-Black racism in the legal profession and educational pipeline.
The COREJ focuses on developing and supporting initiatives and research to address social justice issues that stem from the intersection of race and ethnicity within the legal system.
The Commission on Disability Rights focuses on developing and supporting initiatives and research to secure full and equal participation by persons with mental, physical, and sensory disability in all areas of the legal profession.
The Hispanic Commission focuses on developing and supporting initiatives and research to educate lawyers on how best to serve, promote civic responsibility within, and address the key legal challenges facing Latino community in the United States.
The Diversity Commission focuses on developing and supporting initiatives and research to increase racial and ethnic diversity and inclusion in all areas of the legal profession.
The SOGI Commission focuses on developing and supporting initiatives and research to secure full and equal participation by lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender persons in all areas of the legal profession.
The Commission on Women focuses on developing and supporting initiatives and research to secure full and equal participation of women in all areas of the legal profession.
The Pipeline Council focuses on developing and supporting initiatives and research to increase diversity in the educational pathway to the profession.
The Advisory Council is comprised of representatives from various ABA Entities and National Affinity Bar Associations who meet quarterly to collaborate and communicate on diversity and inclusion efforts and initiatives.
Each bar year the Diversity and Inclusion Center actively markets participating ABA entities to thousands of diverse lawyers, judges, and law students via the Joint Exhibit Program.
Learn More About - JEPThe ABA Fund for Justice and Education is grateful for the ABE's investment of over $3.2 million to ABA charitable programs in 2020. The ABE's grant improves access to justice and provides life-saving legal services to individuals and families in need. Over many decades, the ABE has generously made grants of nearly $300 million to help support law-related public service, educational, and research projects of interest and importance to the public and the profession.
See how - ABE Gives BackThe ABA Board of Governors recently approved the creation of a Diversity and Inclusion Center to enhance collaboration, coordination, and communication around ABA Goal III -- to eliminate bias and enhance diversity and inclusion in the Association, legal profession, and justice system. The Diversity and Inclusion Center is comprised of a Chair appointed by the ABA President and the Chairs of 7 Goal III entities.
