The Technology Committee is excited to sponsor the December 2024 edition of Just Resolutions. This issue showcases the dynamic interplay between technology and alternative dispute resolution (ADR), with thought-provoking contributions on topics ranging from AI ethics in mediation to the implications of virtual platforms for confidentiality and fairness.

Reflecting on 2024, one of our proudest accomplishments has been the monthly ADR Tech Showcase series. This initiative brought together ADR practitioners and technology developers to explore cutting-edge tools designed to enhance the practice of dispute resolution. Each month, we hosted a different tech developer who demonstrated their tools and answered questions, creating a space for dialogue and innovation. These sessions not only provided invaluable insights but also helped bridge the gap between technology creators and users, fostering mutual understanding and collaboration.

Looking ahead, we’re thrilled to announce an exciting new initiative for 2025: the formation of a working group to draft suggested language for mediators’ standard engagement letters or agreements to mediate. This project will tackle critical issues such as disclosures of mediator technology use and rules for parties’ technology use, ensuring that ADR processes remain fair, transparent, and confidential in an increasingly digital world. We invite anyone interested in contributing to this effort to reach out and join us in shaping the future of technology in ADR.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the authors who have contributed to this edition. Your insights and expertise inspire us all to think critically about the opportunities and challenges ahead.

As we close out the year, we want to express our gratitude to all our section leaders, contributors, and colleagues. Your engagement and support drive our mission to explore and integrate technology in ADR.

Finally, we wish you a wonderful holiday season filled with peace, joy, and time spent with loved ones. Here’s to a successful and innovative 2025!

Warm regards,
