Commission on Homelessness & Poverty
The Commission is a critical resource for attorneys seeking to protect the legal rights of nearly 570,000 individuals who frequently lack stable and secure housing. The economic downturn spurred by COVID-19 exacerbates this situation by forcing marginally employed renters from their homes and into dangerous living situations -- over-crowded shelters or the streets. Many face unique legal challenges as they seek refuge in recently closed public spaces.

Commission on Domestic & Sexual Violence
Survivors of domestic and sexual violence are at heightened risk as stay at home orders intensify harmful living situations and the pandemic creates obstacles to victims accessing help. In the last month, the Commission has trained over 1,000 lawyers on protection orders, virtual litigation and gun violence issues. It provides resources to lawyers and survivors now and after the disaster recedes as people continue to seek safety outside their homes.
