Racial Justice and Economics

Brian G. Gilmore, Wilson Adam Schooley, Cary Martin Shelby, and Justin Hansford

Racial and economic justice in our economy are conjoined twins—we cannot address one without the other. Though racist economic measures particularly impact African Americans, history confirms their negative impact crosses racial lines. The predominant zero-sum idea that economic progress for people of color comes at white expense is wrong. This program explores the contemporary interconnection of race and wealth on the ground in American communities, and pathways forward to finally breaking the unholy bond between them.
