This webinar exposes listeners to what is at risk with the December 31, 2025, sunsetting of the Trump Administration’s 2017 TCJA. Advocates and scholars working on the frontlines of tax justice explain not only what is on the menu for members of Congress to vote on in the next year but the who, what, and why marginalized communities must be at the table (and not on the menu). These tax justice panelists describe specific tax issues Congress may consider next year as the TCJA sunsets that are paramount for families to understand this election season. The webinar starts with an overview of the depth and breadth of the trillions of dollars of substantive tax provisions that are on the table. Next, tax policy experts address concerns and opportunities that especially affect women and their families (National Women’s Law Center) and communities of color (Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy). Finally, a panelist from the Coalition on Human Needs discusses the current political climate in Congress and the potential opportunities for success with these economic justice and tax issues in connection with the November 2024 election.
