Section Honors former Chair C. Elisia Frazier

2021 Father Drinan Award

On February 19, the Section honored longtime ABA leader and former Section Chair C. Elisia Frazier with the CRSJ Father Robert F. Drinan Award for Distinguished Service. Frazier, managing deputy city attorney for the City of Atlanta, is known for her in-house counsel work and civil rights and social justice advocacy.

Slay the Dragon

Slay the Dragon shines a light on gerrymandering and follows a handful of citizens’ groups, outraged by what they see as an attack on the core democratic principle that every person’s vote should count equally, as they battle party operatives and an entrenched political establishment to fix a broken system. In addition to a limited-time screening, the Section hosted a discussion of this timely documentary, featuring the filmmakers and election experts.

The Civil Rights Lawyer

The second part of the series, The Civil Rights Lawyer: Perspectives on the Profession, builds upon the vision for good that Houston believed lawyers can play in constructing a more equitable society. Part 2: Social Engineer, commemorates Black History Month, recognizing lawyers who are working to engineer a more racially just country. It features civil rights lawyers working for racial justice in various arenas, including academia, litigation, and policy.
