This webinar will discuss the role of the veto by permanent members of the Security Council in the face of atrocity crimes, the legalities of the Security Council veto by these members, and steps that might be taken to overcome the political bludgeon the veto has become.

Professor Jennifer Trahan, Clinical Professor at NYU's Center for Global Affairs; Mohammad Al Abdallah, Director of Syria Justice and Accountability Center (SJAC); Ambassador (ret.) Hans Corell, served as Under-Secretary-General for Legal Affairs and the Legal Counsel of the United Nations from March 1994 to March 2004.
