    African American Affairs

    Formed in 2018 as a Chair's Initiative, the Committee addresses the overwhelming cumulative, enduring, daily effects of centuries of generational racism, oppression, terrorism, and trauma on Black America. The Committee also hopes to create a counternarrative to collective American silence on the history and continuing effects of slavery, racism, and domestic terror.

    The African American Affairs Committee is one of several committees in the ABA Section of Civil Rights and Social Justice. This year the Committee is being led by Co-Chairs, Pamelya Herndon and Keeshea Turner Roberts, both of whom have extensive experience in working for social justice.
