Resolutions. Are you for them or against them? Regardless, the beginning of the year is a restart, and the spring provides an opportunity to reflect on whether the start of the year has gone the way you envisioned.

As we transition from winter to spring, there may be personal or professional goals that you are ready to attack. People are still trying to recover from natural disasters on both coasts, impacting their daily lives. Toss in a new administration, and there are those trying to figure out how that will affect their practice, clients, community, and careers. The CJS is well positioned to assist with that change with our dynamic resources for our members.

CLE and Networking Opportunities

The National White Collar Crime Institute in Miami this past March was fantastic. We heard from leaders in white-collar crime, both private practitioners and DOJ representatives. Even if you could not attend, make a note for the WCCI to be in San Diego in 2026. Around the corner, we have our Forensics Conference and National Healthcare Fraud Institute this May. These conferences provide a platform for networking and quality CLE that can benefit your career and practice. We also have other conferences that will be held all over the globe, including the 11th Annual Southeastern White Collar Crime Institute in Braselton, Georgia, in September, and the joint London White Collar Institute and Global White Collar Crime Institute will take place in Geneva, Switzerland, on November 17-18, 2025.

Podcast

CJS also has two fantastic podcasts. “The JustPod” features conversations with diverse experts about policy, legal reforms, the Supreme Court, and other criminal justice issues. Geonard Butler and Justin Danilewitz co-host the show. There is also “White Collar Talks with Nina and Joe,” in which Joe Whitley and Nina Marino discuss hot topics and emerging trends in government investigations and enforcement.

Leadership Opportunities

We continue our drive to reinvent CJS to meet our members where they are. This reinvention also includes structuring our committees to be as effective as possible. Our committees are essential to our CLE section and best practices for criminal justice issues. If you made a goal to get more involved, now is the time to take advantage as we are already getting ready for the 2025-2026 bar year. Let us know if you want an opportunity for fellowship and to work with other talented criminal justice practitioners. We have several committees and task forces that could use your expertise.

It is said spring is the time for the natural world to revive and reinvigorate after the winter. Let us also use this time to do the same thing!
