Second Chance Task Force

Who We Are

The American Bar Association Criminal Justice Section created the Second Chance Task Force (formerly the Federal Expungement Task Force) to determine ways to implement existing ABA policy on sealing or expunging criminal records.  Its goal is to work with ABA groups, external entities and individuals addressing the many debilitating collateral consequences stemming from criminal records that no longer serve any identifiable purpose for ensuring public safety.  The roadmap for implementation of the ABA Policy will be developed by diverse stakeholders throughout the criminal justice system.
