February 04, 2022 Message from the Chair-Elect

Buckle Up for an Exciting and Busy Forum Year in 2022!

Wm. Cary Wright

The Forum’s in-person activities certainly slowed in 2020 and 2021, with Seattle being our first in-person meeting in a year-and-a-half.  Buckle Up because the Forum is coming back in full force, and then some, in 2022.  Barring another COVID outbreak, this will be an in-person and fast-paced Forum year!

We start with the Mid-Winter meeting in San Diego on February 23-25, 2022.  The topic will be The Business of Construction: Think More Like a CEO, Less Like a Lawyer.  San Diego weather is always wonderful in February and there are many offerings in the area, so we hope you can attend.

The Forum will then return to New York for the Annual Meeting on May 4-7, 2022 at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel.  There the topic will be The In-House Counsel Summit.

For a Forum first, we head to Lake Tahoe for a summer meeting on July 28-30, 2022 followed by the Planning Retreat for the Governing Committee and Division Chairs.  There, we will learn about the Art of Negotiation.  The Lake Tahoe area is spectacular and is a great place to tack on a short vacation with your family.  As you may recall, this meeting is the rescheduled Fall 2021 meeting.

A short eight weeks later, we will be meeting in Memphis for the Fall 2022 meeting.  There, the topic will be Building the Next Generation – Learning from the Past.  Memphis has so much to offer – the Mississippi River, museums, Beal Street and, of course, Graceland.  The meeting will be at the historic Peabody Hotel – ducks and all!

Finally, we will round out 2022 in early December with the Regional Meetings being held in Dallas, D.C., Louisville and San Francisco. The Construction Contracts program is in the rotation for these Regional meetings.

So Buckle Up and enjoy the fast-paced year ahead of us – it will be a great ride!
