Escape the cold and join us at the ABA Forum on Construction Law’s 2025 Midwinter Meeting, Maximizing Returns: Proven Strategies for Project Owners and Developers when we return to sunny Tampa, Florida. The program will be held at the Hilton Downtown Tampa from January 15-17, 2025.
Creating and maintaining the built environment involves a myriad of designers, contractors and stakeholders, but it all begins and ends with the owner. This Program— Episode 2 of our construction trilogy—focuses on critical issues that owners and developers need to consider and have in their execution “playbooks” to set their projects up for success – including being ready when things invariably don’t go according to plan. And because understanding the owner’s perspective is also critical for contractors, design consultants and financing parties, we’ll take a 360-degree view around the owner, looking at strategies for all project participants to “own” their roles for better outcomes.
Our Program will kick-off with an in-depth discussion on how projects are green-lit from Tampa-based owners and developers from Tampa International Airport, DeBartolo Development, and Strategic Property Partners – the group developing the vibrant Water Street Tampa project that we hope you take the opportunity to visit. Other sessions will include discussions on:
- The best dispute resolution tools for an owner
- Condominiums and the changing legal landscape in the wake of the Surfside tragedy
- Sources of project financing and how to acquire and maintain them
- Post-construction issues and understanding the operations and maintenance phase of a project
Join us outside for our Welcome Reception where the Latin culture and history of Tampa will be on full display. Additionally, Professor Homer C. La Rue will join us for our traditional Diversity Breakfast to discuss the work that he and others at the Ray Corollary Initiative are doing to expand diversity in dispute resolution: an important mission and good reminder as we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday.
And after the education ends, make plans for a guided tour through Tampa’s historic Ybor City neighborhood sampling food and beverages along the way. Whether for the thought-provoking topics, highly regarded speakers, networking opportunities, or warm weather, come spend the long January holiday weekend with your Forum friends in Tampa. We hope to see you there!
