January 06, 2023 American Bar Association Forum on Construction Law
2023 Trial Academy
Using a factual scenario with a judge, lawyer, and expert witness, specifically authored to focus on issues commonly encountered on construction projects. This three-day intensive trial skills training program, led by faculty (speakers), will teach attorneys (students) the skills necessary to successfully try a construction dispute. Expert students (witnesses) will have the opportunity to practice the skills and techniques that make for effective presentation of opinion testimony in a construction case.
Trial Academy faculty is comprised of experienced construction litigators who have tried cases in forums throughout the country. Participants will engage in a mix of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on skills sessions culminating in a full-day mock trial of a construction dispute.
Designed for younger and/or less-experienced construction litigators and experts, the Forum Trial Academy is limited to 36 attorney students and 24 expert witness students, allowing for numerous, daily opportunities to practice “on your feet” trial skills and receive immediate substantive feedback from course faculty and committee, including video review. Expert
students will serve as fact and expert witnesses and will also receive instruction and feedback over the course of the program.
