Capital Clemency Resource Initiative

The ABA Capital Clemency Resource Initiative was created to address the troubling lack of resources and expertise available to practitioners and decision makers in the capital clemency process and—for the first time—to provide targeted, comprehensive, and current materials to guide stakeholders through this crucial last phase of the death penalty process. This is a joint initiative with the Death Penalty Due Process Review Project and Commission on Disability Rights.

International Training & Reform

Since 2003, the Representation Project has worked with bar associations, defense lawyers, academics, and judges in many death penalty countries to provide technical assistance and training for capital defense lawyers and judges. The Representation Project has also provided important support to foreign lawyers who wish to make changes to their death penalty procedures that will increase fairness and due process protections and improve the quality of defense counsel in capital cases.
