Crowell & Moring Wins Major Victory in Crosley Green Innocence Case

On July 20, 2018, Florida death row prisoner Crosley Green had his conviction overturned, with the judge ordering the state to either initiate proceedings for a new trial or to release Mr. Green. For the past decade, Crowell & Moring has provided extraordinary pro bono representation to Mr. Green, winning first a commutation of his death sentence to life in prison, and now a complete reversal of the conviction that originally sent him to death row.

Argument Preview: Supreme Court to Hear As-Applied Challenge to Missouri Lethal Injection Protocol

On November 6, 2018, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear its first case since 2015 challenging a method of execution. Missouri death row prisoner Russell Bucklew has brought an as-applied challenge to the state’s lethal injection protocol, arguing that its use should be constitutionally prohibited in his specific case because of a rare medical condition that will cause him to experience extreme suffering during the lethal injection process
