Sylvia joined the DPRP as the project associate in August of 2017 where she assists with managing the Project’s budget, communications, and scholarship program. She first came to Washington, DC after graduating from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2013, where she received her B.A. in Psychology and Political Science.
As an intern at the Institute for Women’s Policy Research, she studied and co-authored a paper on the barriers to academic success for pregnant and parent community college women in Mississippi and spent time in rural Arkansas as a field organizer in 2014. Her interests lay in public mental health, education, and criminal justice reform.
In her free Sylvia enjoys exploring DC on bike, seeing shows at the Kennedy Center, and taking her cat on walks through Rock Creek Park.
