Claudia Ray

Biography

Claudia Ray is a Partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP. She is a past chair of the NYC Bar Association’s Trademarks and Unfair Competition and Copyright Committees, a member of INTA’s U.S. Bulletins Subcommittee and repeat past member of the U.S. Amicus Subcommittee, co-founder of the Advisory Board for NYU’s Engelberg Center on Innovation Law and Policy, and a founding member of the AAA’s Intellectual Property/Technology Advisory Committee. Ms. Ray represents clients in litigation, arbitration and administrative proceedings involving copyright, trademark, Internet, contract/licensing, and trade secret issues across a range of industries, including technology, consumer products, entertainment and media, and financial services.

She also advises on IP issues relating to corporate transactions and licensing matters as well as overall IP protection and brand-building strategies. Representative matters have involved such well-known properties as the Obama “Hope” poster, Harry Potter, Chuck Taylor All-Stars, Colgate Total, Burberry’s plaid, and Travelers’ red umbrella.
