Our colleagues at the ABA Young Lawyers Division recently published an article in TYL on how federal government attorneys can be involved in pro bono work.
"Government attorneys face particular hindrances in participating in external or “outside” activities, such as publishing articles or participating in pro bono activities. While sometimes daunting, proper coordination with your supervisor and local ethics office can easily overcome those hindrances and allow you to participate in pro bono opportunities and share your expertise through speaking engagements and publishing."
