This panel will discuss current issues impacting the first-party/third-party relationship in collections, including (a) issues with compliance and implementation of Regulation F one year in, including digital communications collections, time-barred debt communication prohibition, etc.; (b) the CFPB’s “junk fees” initiative as it applies to collections activities (e.g., “pay to pay”); and (c) California’s new debt collector licensing and registration requirements.
