The banking sector continues to experience disintermediation, as nonbanks
develop novel ways to offer deposit-like, credit, and payment products,
while the CFPB and other banking regulators emphasize the customer
experience and customer satisfaction, regardless of who provides the
product or service. Questions remain about just how much of banking can
be done by nonbanks, and who really has the relationship with the
