Competition in payments has been drawing attention in policy (e.g., the Credit Card Competition Act of 2023, central bank digital currency) and litigation (e.g., In Re Payments Card Interchange Fee and Merchant Discount Antitrust Litigation). Meanwhile, payments technology has been evolving, introducing new entrants in the payments space. In this panel, we will discuss developments related to competition in payments.
