Over the past several years, the number of unit investment trusts available and the amount of money invested in them have grown rapidly. In many respects, however, these investment vehicles remain unfamiliar to both the public and the securities practitioner. This Article describes the structure and operations of the most common types of unit investment trusts. In addition, it explores the regulation of these entities under the federal securities laws.
