Message from the Chair

Cheryl Dancey Balough

Dear Cyberspace Colleagues –

A big thanks to Erin Illman and Agnes Bundy Scanlan and to Roland Trope for presenting very timely and successful webinars in June on:

  •  “CCPA: Successes, Failures, and Practical Considerations for Compliance”
  • “Cracking the CIFIUS Code: Illuminating New Regulations Implementing the Foreign Investment Risk Review Modernization Act”

If you were not able to attend these programs live, you can access the recordings and materials in the Business Law Bonus program archive. You also can access past In the Know and Business Law Basics programs here.

It is time to register for the first ever ALL-VIRTUAL and FREE Annual Meeting. All CLE programs and committee/subcommittee meetings will occur over the week of September 21-25 and will occur between 9 am and 4 pm CT. Virtual health clubs and receptions will occur before and after the day’s programs/meetings. This is an excellent opportunity for everyone to attend excellent programming from the comfort of your desk (or wherever you might be working)—and to participate in our committee and subcommittee meetings. If travel and meeting budgets have prevented you from getting involved in the past, you no longer have that obstacle. We look forward to your involvement! Register now.

Thank you for the many great proposals for CLE programs you submitted for the Virtual Annual Meeting. We should hear back from the Section soon on which programs have been scheduled and their specific days/times.

In late July/early August, you also will have an opportunity to access ABA Annual Meeting programming online—and registration will be complimentary! You can get more information on the 2020 ABA Virtual Annual Meeting website.

We are currently updating leadership of our various subcommittees. If you are interested in contributing in a leadership role, please contact Cheryl Burtzel via email or at (512) 840-4553.
