Dear Cyberspace Colleagues –
Welcome to our new Cyberspace Law Committee newsletter. While the new ABA website offers some great features, we recognize that it made our newsletter a bit more difficult to read. The ABA is experimenting with a new format—with this inaugural issue. Please share your feedback!
Many thanks again to committee members who presented CLE programs or led meetings at the Cyberspace Law Institute in Phoenix a few weeks back! If you missed the meeting, you can access some of the materials in the Materials section the Cyberspace Law Committee website.
You also should have received in January a copy of The Business Lawyer, including our annual Cyberspace Law Survey. Thank you to the authors of the 9 well-researched and very informative articles—and to John Rothchild, our devoted editor!
While the coronavirus necessitated the cancellation of the BLS Spring Meeting in Boston, we still have the opportunity to interact and move forward with the committee’s work through telephonic meetings. The following subcommittees will meet telephonically on Thursday, March 26. Call-in information will be available soon. Please note that meeting times are all ET.
- 10 – 11 am ET: Cyber Insurance Subcommittee
- 2 – 3 pm ET: Robotics & Artificial Intelligence Subcommittee
- 3 – 4 pm ET: E-Payments & Financial Services Subcommittee (will discuss legal issues associated with providing payments and financial services during a pandemic)
- 4 – 5 pm ET: Smart Contracts & Blockchain Subcommittee
The Section is exploring options for offering a number of the planned CLE programs via webinars. Stay tuned for more information.
