Message from the Chair

Cheryl Dancey Balough

Cyberspace Colleagues –

As you take care of year-end planning, remember to register for the 2020 Cyberspace Law Institute and Winter Working Meeting. I look forward to your participation in January 24-25 event at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University in Phoenix. This is your best opportunity to share your talents and get more involved with the committee. You also can get 6.5 hours of CLE on the latest in cyberspace law, discuss hot issues, help identify new initiatives and network with old and new colleagues in a casual setting. No suits, please!  You can read more about the CLE programs offered and access the full agenda here.

Our meeting begins with a cocktail party at the law school the evening of Thursday, January 23. If your schedule permits you to arrive by midday or so on Thursday, plan to join some of us for a hike on nearby Camelback Mountain. We will depart the Westin Phoenix Downtown (our base hotel) at 1:30 or 2 and carpool by Lyft/Uber for the 15 to 20-minute drive to the base of Cholla Trail. We will return in time for you to freshen up for the 6 pm cocktail party (to be held at the law school just a block from the hotel).

The Cholla Trail is the easier of the trails, but the upper part is still a challenge for those who want a longer, more strenuous workout. We will assemble small groups to meet the goals of the hikers. Please email me if you plan to hike. Of course, if you don’t feel like hiking, you can get an early start on chips and guac, where you certainly will have company!

As always, please let Cheryl Burtzel or me know if you have ideas for projects or want to get involved in other ways.

Regards,
Cheryl Dancey Balough
