Founding committee chair Jeff Ritter testified before the Senate Banking Committee on data ownership late last month. Watch the testimony here.

With thanks to John Rothchild for the invitation to speak last February at Wayne State’s Symposium: The Emerging Blockchain and the Law, Sarah Jane Hughes’ essay derived from that talk has been published by the Wayne Law Review.  The piece is entitled “Property, Agency, and the Blockchain: New Technology and Longstanding Legal Paradigms.” The focal point for cyberlaws is likely to be the section on agency principle and how “smart contracts” (if many are out there) require careful thinking.
