Upcoming CLE Webinar

On March 21, 2019, from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm Eastern time, the Cyberspace Committee is sponsoring a free, 90 minute “Business Law Basics” CLE webinar on “Blockchain Technology and Smart Contracts for the Business Lawyer.” This program will explain the technical and legal fundamentals of blockchain technology and smart contracts, including a grounding in common terminology that business lawyers should understand. Panelists will introduce a range of uses for the technology and discuss related legal issues impacting security, privacy, jurisdiction and liability. William Denny will moderate the panel, and other speakers include Carla Reyes, Ryan Rist and John Ottaviani.

Committee Member News

Sarah Jane Hughes testified in the Indiana Senate on Wednesday, February 6, on SR 9, a resolution to authorize a committee to study the regulation of virtual currency businesses and, specifically, the Uniform Regulation of Virtual-Currency Businesses Act and the Supplemental Commercial Law for the former act. CLC's Hughes and Steve Middlebrook were, respectively, the Reporter and ABA Advisor for the first act, and Hughes also served as the Reporter for the Supplemental Commercial Law.
