BCLC To Present Four Programs At The 2020 Virtual Section Annual Meeting

Following the successful programs in Washington DC last fall, the BCLC is looking forward to the 2020 Virtual Annual Meeting this fall. The Committee has rolled over from the cancelled Spring Meeting a number of the programs. The Committee expects to present another set of engaging and compelling programs at the upcoming virtual meeting, which will take place on September 21-25, 2020.

On Monday, September 21, 2020 from 12:15 PM – 1:45 PM CDT, the Committee will sponsor, along with a number of other Committees, a special Showcase Event, “Access to Justice in Light of COVID-19: Benefits, Burdens and Lessons”. It will be co-chaired by Sharon Weiss of Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner, Los Angeles, CA, Magistrate Judge Mac McCoy of the Middle District of Florida and Judge Alvin W. Thompson of the District of Connecticut.

The “BCLC Recent Developments in Business and Corporate Litigation: Annual Review” will be presented in two parts over two days and will be co-chaired by Jessica Mendelson of Paul Hastings LLP, Palo Alto, CA and Anne Steadman of Ross Aronstam & Moritz LLP of Wilmington, DE. The first session will be on Tuesday, September 22 from 2:00 PM -3:30 PM CDT and the second session will be at the same time on Wednesday, September 23, 2020. These panels will cover Sports Law, Cannabis Law, Corporate Law and Business Courts.

“Key Distinctions When Litigating in Bankruptcy Court, District Court and Chancery Court: A Comparative Discussion” will be chaired by Melanie E. Damian of Damian & Valori, LLP, Miami, FL and Freddi Mack of Jones Day in Miami, FL of the Business Bankruptcy Committee, and will take place on Thursday, September 24 from 10:45 AM – 12:15 PM CDT.

Rounding out the programs on Thursday, September 24, from 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM CDT, “Ethical Limits in Negotiation: Or Else I Will . . .” will be co-chaired by Douglas Eyre of McAlpine PC of Detroit, MI and Judge Clifton B. Newman of The South Carolina Business Court in Columbia, SC.
