On Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. EST, the Banking Law Committee will present a free non-CLE webinar entitled “Lending to Diverse Markets: It’s More Than Risk Management…It’s About Bank Culture”.

With all the discussion about deregulation of the banking industry and CFPB Director Mulvaney signaling that the Bureau intends to stop “pushing the envelope” in its approach to consumer protection, there is a natural inclination for banks to think about moderating the attention and resources they devote to compliance risk management. Though fair lending enforcement, including redlining, may appear dormant, supervisory and enforcement scrutiny remains active in this area, catching many banks off guard. Banks that are prepared for redlining scrutiny tend to share a common trait – they approach diverse market lending as a cultural issue – not simply a means to avoiding redlining risk. In this webinar, Andrea Mitchell and Michelle Rogers will discuss ways to approach diverse market outreach as a culture-affirming initiative as well as a business opportunity and risk management strategy.

Program Panelists:
Andrea Mitchell, Partner, Buckley Sandler LLP
Michelle Rogers, Partner, Buckley Sandler LLP

Andrea Mitchell and Michelle Rogers are Partners in Buckley Sandler’s Washington, DC office.  Andrea focuses her practice on regulatory compliance and enforcement matters involving fair and responsible financial services, including matters that involve disparate impact and disparate treatment, unfair, deceptive, or abusive acts and practices (UDAAP), and other unfair, predatory, or anti-discrimination issues.  Michelle Rogers represents clients in regulatory, government enforcement and litigation matters involving fair and responsible lending laws, UDAAP, and government lending and servicing matters.
