Entry into Canada
Canadian law requires that all persons entering Canada carry both proof of citizenship and proof of identity. A valid U.S. passport, passport card, or NEXUS card satisfies these requirements for U.S. citizens.
Please review this helpful Travel Tips Sheet to see if you are traveling from a country that may require an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) or Visitor Visa to fly to Canada. There is also helpful information there for anyone that may have a DUI on his/her driving record.
Personal Mobile Devices
You may want to contact your mobile service provider before traveling to Vancouver to verify what your plan covers. If you don’t have an international plan, you may choose to turn off data roaming on your phone before you get to Vancouver so as not to incur unwanted fees. If your plan currently does not include service to/from Canada, you may wish to consider adding this service for the month of March for a nominal fee. For keeping in touch with folks back home, you may try communicating via any number of free Web-based services like Facebook Messenger, Facetime, WhatsApp, Skype, Google Hangouts, etc., to avoid excessive phone charges.
