    Leadership Academy

    The Leadership Academy aims to provide Section members skills to assume leadership roles in the ABA, charitable and community organizations and their places of employment through this curriculum of advancing CLE and non-CLE programs.

    Program Description

    The ABA Business Law Section is committed to providing its members skills to assume leadership roles in the ABA, charitable and community organizations and their places of employment.  The Leadership Academy has been organized to carry out this objective. The Academy will offer an advancing curriculum of CLE and non-CLE programs aimed to develop leadership skills of lawyers. The programs will be held over the course of a two-year period at five in-person meetings and two ancillary webinar presentations.

    Leadership is Joyful. The leader enjoys the role, finding it energizing and fulfilling. Because the leader genuinely respects and cares for the organization and its members, he or she views leadership as a privilege and honor, not as a burden or as a means to another end.

    Program Requirements and Cost

    The program is open to any business lawyer interested in furthering his or her leadership skills. Participants must be members of the Business Law Section or join the Business Law Section to participate in the Leadership Academy.

    To obtain the Leadership Academy Certificate of Completion, participants must attend the academy curriculum offered over a period of two years.

    Participation in the Leadership Academy will be included in the registration fee to attend Business Law Section meetings. Meeting registration fees vary from meeting to meeting. Detailed meeting information can be found on the Events and Meetings webpage.

    Application

    A limited number participants will be accepted for participation in the Leadership Academy each year. Applications for 2025-2027 will open in the winter of 2025.
