Vol. 39, No. 4

A quick note about this issue

A major focus for the 2015 Midyear Meeting of the National Conference of Bar Presidents, National Association of Bar Executives, and National Conference of Bar Foundations was frank discussion of the steps that may need to be taken in order to serve the legal public and ensure that lawyers and bar-related organizations remain vital now and in the future.

A recurring thread in that discussion was the push and pull between serving the public and serving lawyers, and what role the bar association should play. Because our job is to report on news that affects bar associations and foundations, Bar Leader is pleased to offer you, in this issue, a window onto some of that discussion. The conversation will continue: If you will be at the ABA Bar Leadership Institute, you won’t want to miss the TED Talk-inspired plenary “Opportunities in an Era of Disruption: Five Takes on the Future of the Profession,” 3:10 – 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 12.
