Introducing two Life of a Leader correspondents

Joining our new Life of a Leader project recently are Jeff R. Hawkins, president-elect of the Indiana State Bar Association, and Catharine B. Arrowood of the North Carolina Bar Association.

Arrowood is a partner in the Raleigh, N.C., office of Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP. She litigates and arbitrates for businesses of all sizes, including educational institutions, utilities, and biotech firms. Arrowood was president of both the Wake County Bar Association and Tenth Judicial District Bar in 2007. She will become president of the NCBA in June 2014.

Hawkins and his wife Jennifer are shareholders in their Sullivan, Ind.-based firm, Hawkins Law PC, which is focused on estate and business planning, trust and estate administration, and elder law. He is a member of the Sullivan County Bar Association and the ABA as well as the ISBA. Hawkins will become president in October 2014.

Both Hawkins and Arrowood will attend the 2014 ABA Bar Leadership Institute March 12-14 in Chicago, and both are active on Twitter. You can read their observations from BLI through @ABABarLeader, @HawkinsLawPC, @cbarrowood, and #BLI14. There’s also a hashtag for Life of a Leader: #LBL.

As the project progresses, Hawkins and Arrowood will share their thoughts with us in longer form, too. Watch @ABABarLeader and the Bar Services website for the upcoming Life of a Leader page. Each issue of Bar Leader will include a roundup of some of the most notable tweets and other thoughts from Hawkins, Arrowood, and more correspondents whom we expect to add shortly after BLI.

The Life of a Leader project is just beginning—please join us as Hawkins, Arrowood, and our yet-to-be-named correspondents take the next steps on their path to bar presidency.
