The EU is poised to adopt a regime to combat distortions of competition resulting from non-EU subsidies. The Commission will investigate and remedy such distortions, while multinationals benefitting from "financial contributions" will become subject to mandatory notification and approval requirements alongside merger and foreign investment screening regimes.
