FDI Spotlight: State-Owned Enterprises

Fraser Malcolm, Frank Roger Friedrich Roehling, Janet Yung Yung Hui, Jason Hewitt, and John Michael Beahn

Foreign direct investment (FDI) reviews and national security considerations are increasingly intertwined with foreign affairs and foreign policy. Sovereign wealth funds, pension funds and state-owned enterprises continue to be a large source of capital for the global economy and are looking to diversify across industries and regions. Geopolitical tensions are increasing with certain countries that are not part of the existing western security apparatus still participating in the global economy but being placed under increasing scrutiny./FDI experts discuss reviews of investments by state-owned enterprises in key jurisdictions. Our panelists will explore the risks and strategies for deal making and getting approvals as well as what investors should expect as regimes continue to expand and increase scrutiny of these investments going forward.
