Where We Stand: Current Issues Under the Corporate Transparency Act (and Is It Really Going to Happen?)

The Corporate Transparency Act's filing requirements already apply to domestic companies created in 2024, with a looming January 1, 2025 deadline for every company formed before 2024. The vast majority of companies have not yet made their filings, and so we anticipate a huge, last minute filing rush. Meanwhile, a case now on appeal to the 11th Circuit (after the district court held the CTA unconstitutional) and other pending cases threaten to upset the whole CTA filing regime.

Our panel expects to cover: (a) legislative activity currently in Congress about the CTA; (b) the most recent FAQs and other pronouncements from FinCEN; (c) the various pending anti-CTA lawsuits, including their bases and status; and (d) current issues, remaining questions, and developments in complying with the CTA.
