    Police accountability and the impact of inadequate law enforcement policies have risen to prominence due to the astounding number of police use-of-force cases and the recent Minneapolis verdict. Effective accountability procedures are essential if the police are to achieve their goals of lawfulness and legitimacy. As criminal justice advocates have suggested, eliminating discriminatory police practices means reimagining law enforcement by holding violators accountable. Join our panel of advocates as they address repealing policies such as the Law Enforcement Officers' Bill of Rights and external citizen oversight agencies as sustainable approaches to police reform.

    The program will explore:

    • Partnerships with people in under-invested communities of color;
    • External procedures for reviewing citizen complaints; and
    • Early intervention systems to enhance accountability.
