There is no way to run an efficient law firm without using technology, and law offices are interested in the opportunities presented by quickly evolving legal technology. But along with the benefits of technology come risks. Mitigating the risk requires a conscious effort for everyone in the firm to understand the technology you are using, and to have the appropriate policies in place. Enter technology policies and procedures, to create the necessary understanding of  systems and risk management. In this session, we will discuss the rules around understanding technology, the policies you should have in your firm, and how to best enforce those policies.

In sum, this course will help you:

    • Understand where laws are heading on technology competence and data security (RPC 1.1, Cmnt 8, GDPR, and select state rules)
    • Discover the technology-related policies you should have in your firm
    • Learn necessary considerations in writing and revising the firm’s technology policies
    • Learn how to educate staff effectively on the policies and enforce them effectively
