In August, the House of Delegates passed changes to the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct modernizing the rules as they relate to the oft-confusing issues of lawyer marketing, advertising and solicitation. These long overdue changes—addressing an altered landscape as it relates to technology, globalization and a rapidly shifting, ultra-competitive marketplace, means new ethical considerations and compliance at the state bar level.

This one-hour ethics CLE, presented by the ABA Law Practice Division, will address state adoption of these rule changes, related court and bar ethics opinions, and the way they relate to today's law marketing efforts—from the "traditional" (billboards, radio and TV) to the "modern" (websites, blogs and social media, ratings and rankings, reviews, referral services, and other "content"). Learn how to best comply with the rules, as they relate to multi-jurisdictional practices, along with the states that can be tougher to advertise in than others. Whether you are a solo practitioner marketing to consumers or a mega-firm focused on defense of corporate clients, the issue addressed will be relevant to your law practice.
