Circular Economy (E-waste) – What Environmental Attorneys Need to Know

    12 PM GMT

    Sponsored by:
Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources, and the Section's International Environmental and Resources Law Committee.

    Program Overview:
Is there a gap in American law with respect to handling and disposal of e-waste? Europe and other countries have recently taken steps to "close the loop" of product lifecycles through greater recycling and re-use, so as to realize benefits for both the environment and the economy. For example, the first ever face to face meeting of the Expert Working Group on the e-waste technical guidelines formulated under the Basel Convention recently took place in Beijing, China on January 25-26, 2018. This meeting of members from around 25 signatory countries focused on refining the technical guidelines to govern transboundary movements of electrical and electronic waste among these countries.

    Panelists:
Lucas Bergkamp, Partner, Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP
Paul Hagen, Principal, Beveridge & Diamond
Jenny McClister, EHS Environmental & Sustainability Counsel, HP Inc.
Mathy Stanislaus, Circular Economy Fellow, WRI; Senior Advisor to World Economic Forum for the Platform for Accelerating Circular Economy
