Oil and Gas Tax Partnerships
1 PM GMT
This panel will discuss partnership tax issues that arise in the context of oil and gas partnerships. The panel will introduce the basic concepts of depletion and intangible drilling costs and how they are typically allocated in the partnership context. We will discuss not only oil & gas partnerships conducted through legal entities (LLCs and limited partnerships) but also so-called “tax partnerships” where no legal entity exists. We will discuss the ability to “elect out” of tax partnership treatment and walk through typical transactions occurring in the life cycle of a tax partnership.
