Managing Business Owner Equity Valuation Audit Risk: Optics Matter!

    12 PM GMT

Asset valuation is often at the heart of gift and estate tax audits. The appraisal and the appraiser’s ability to defend it will often determine the results of the audit. Due to the technological advances and more on point court cases, valuation is no longer "as much art as it is science."  The bar has been raised and intellectual rigor is a must.  Our speakers, including a former IRS appraiser, will discuss what the IRS looks for in an appraisal, red flags an appraisal may raise, ways the IRS challenges an appraisal, how to prepare an appraisal to better withstand challenge, and how an appraiser can effectively defend the appraisal. Armed with this knowledge, participants will be better able to counter IRS attacks on appraisals and appraisers.
