Trust decanting (the distributing of assets from an older trust to a new one with more favorable terms) is a practice that has caught the attention of estate planners and attorneys — and the Uniform Law Commission, which is now preparing a new Uniform Trust Decanting Act. Our program will address the reasons for and the current status of this Act, which is expected to be completed and approved in 2015.
