    Program Description:

Today's modern practice is changing, and the challenges solo and small firms face are more complex than ever. The ever-present challenge of balancing the practice of law with running your business has only increased. But, the influx of technology has added even more pressure to small law firms with greater demands on security, adequate business procedures, greater efficiency, marketing, and meeting client demands.

These days, there is less room for error in your practice as there is technology to help reduce the risks; such as calendaring deadlines and administrative errors. With 34% of malpractice claims stemming from a failure to calendar properly and 28.5% due to administrative errors, it's no wonder that 27 states have now adopted their own versions of the 2012 ABA Rules Model "Duty of Technology Competence," where it states that "lawyers need to make educated decisions about technology to better serve their clients"; and that "they need to understand the tools they use and intend to use to practice law - including the legal and ethical implications of those technological tools, including issues related to privacy and security."

And, the challenges do not just involve malpractice, but client expectations have increased greatly - and they will go elsewhere if you are not responsive, collaborative and treating their information securely. Firms need to be smarter than ever to maximize their efforts to deliver optimal client service, build a strong reputation, gain more referrals, deliver the answers their clients need, and reach today's legal consumer.

In this program, we'll hear more about these challenges, what successful law firms are doing to overcome these challenges, and how to thrive in the new reality of today's modern legal marketplace.
